Direct beneficiaries per year: 125 students, almost 100 local service agencies, thousands of individuals in Cambodia, Kenya, Mexico, Peru and Thailand
Mission:
The mission of Youthlinc is to create life-time humanitarians.
We accomplish this goal through a Service Year program in which young people volunteer locally and attend monthly planning meetings where they are mentored to take leadership roles in a wide variety of service activities in impoverished villages in Kenya, Mexico, Peru, and Thailand.
In return for their service and leadership commitments during an entire school year, they earn sponsorships that offset a portion of their international service experience costs. Rotary clubs, universities and colleges, businesses, professional associations, and individuals who want to encourage service among young people provide these sponsorships.
Youthlinc students are relied upon volunteers at social service agencies all over Utah, and in several States where we have satellite programs.
Monthly meetings are structured around service learning, cooperative learning, and project based learning research. Mentors are critical to the success of the program.
Internationally, over the past ten years, Youthlinc has effected real change in the quality of people’s lives through partnership with the communities we serve in Kenya, Mexico, Peru, and Thailand. We bring about clean water projects, secondary school and medical clinic construction, vocational training, community health education, microenterprise initiatives, and special needs services.

Results:
Each year, Youthlinc students contribute nearly 15,000 service hours, becoming relied upon volunteers for dozens of community service agencies.
Each year, Youthlinc contributes almost $400,000 in water projects, construction projects, vocational training and equipment, special needs services, microenterprise loans, educational enterprises in partnership with impoverished communities in Cambodia, Kenya, Mexico, Peru, and Thailand .
Though only 5% of our incoming class of students each year have had any significant volunteering experience, 93% of our alums continue to serve in their communities.

Youthlinc was not only able to give me an opportunity to travel to Kenya and make a difference there, but it helped me realize there are plenty of places in our community that need help. Traveling to Kenya and making a...
