Target demographics:
Low income children in Allegheny County between the ages of 2-12.
Results to date:
-Provided free, high-quality reading programs to more than 114,300 children and their families through RIF Pittsburgh’s programs
-Distributed over 268,000 new, free children’s books through RIF Pittsburgh’s Book Distribution Program
-Assisted 1,081 students in the Pittsburgh Public Schools who were reading below their grade level in improving their reading skills and learning that reading is fun
-Inspired more than 4,900 families to read over 79,000 books together through the Read to Your Parent Program
-Book Distribution Program: distributes more than 52,000 free new books to over 17,000 children at more than 60 sites throughout the City of Pittsburgh
-After School Tutoring Program: provides free, structured, reading-centered program and fun activities for kindergarten through fifth grade students (mid-October to mid-May)
-Read to Your Parent Program: provides reading incentives to students and family members to read together and achieve nationa 25 books/year goal
