Low-income adults, youth, and children from East Palo Alto, east Menlo Park, and Redwood City, CA.
Results to date:
Since our inception in 1965, more than 130,000 individuals have changed their lives at JobTrain. Our training completion rate is currently 81% and our job placement rate is slightly below 80% with a starting wage of $16.59/hour.
Direct beneficiaries per year: JobTrain serves more than 5,000 people each year. Approximately 500 enroll in full-time adult vocational training; approximately 250 youth are served through training, healthy living programs, and summer internships; 24 children between the ages of 3 and 5 enroll in our Child Development Center.
Indirect beneficiaries per year: Thousands of others use assessment services and career search resources at JobTrain.
Obstacles:
Reduced government funds for job training and a slowed economy have made fundraising more challenging.
What your donation will allow us to do:
A donation to JobTrain provides students with vocational and life skills training, as well as job placement support.
Your donation of $2,500.00 enables us to:
Provide a complete training program to one student. This includes vocational training, life skills classes, instruction in education fundamentals, assessment services, provision of tools and uniforms, job readiness skills, and career counseling and placement services.
Your donation of $500.00 enables us to:
Provide fundamental learning skills to one student. This includes English, math, writing, computer, and job readiness skills.
Your donation of $350.00 enables us to:
Provide one student with the tools and uniforms that their training, and ultimately their job, requires.
