Results to date:
In 2006-2007, Goodwill accomplished the following:
- 844,478 pairs of shoes saved from going to landfill
- 215 employers hired our participants
- 17,178,916 lbs. of goods diverted from landfill
- 59,863 computers saved from going to landfill
Direct beneficiaries per year: 1,214 Bay Area residents received job training and career counseling
Indirect beneficiaries per year: The environment, local businesses, and our community
Obstacles:
We compete with craigslist and eBay for quality donated goods; we are now developing our individual giving programs so we have capital to launch new initiatives
Your donation of $50 enables us to:
provide two hours of intensive one-on-one coaching for a participant going to work for the first time.
Your donation of $1,000 enables us to:
provide a career fair for 500 job seekers who are re-entering the workforce following incarceration, welfare dependency, or homelessness. On average, 200 of these applicants land jobs within a month.
Your donation of $12,000 enables us to:
provide ten months of paid training, support, placement, and retention services for a job-training participant interested in a retail career.
