Target demographics: People with glaucoma and their families and care providers; all those at high risk for glaucoma, including African Americans, Hispanics in older age groups, Asians, anyone over age 60, and anyone with a family history of glaucoma. In addition to providing excellent educational resources, GRF funds innovative research to find a cure for glaucoma. Research scientists working on better diagnostics and treatments for glaucoma, especially scientists with new, untested ideas seeking funding for pilot projects.

Today a major mulit-year collaborative study, Catalyst For a Cure (CFC), is redefining how glaucoma research is conducted. The CFC research scientists — specialists in genetics, nerve regeneration, and neurodevelopment — work in real-time collaboration to understand neuronal loss in glaucoma and identify targets for intervention.
