Mission:
The Finger Lakes Institute Is dedicated to the promotion of environmental research and education about the Finger Lakes and surrounding environments. In collaboration with regional environmental partners and state and local government offices, the Institute fosters environmentally-sound development practices throughout the region, and disseminates the accumulated knowledge to the general public.

During the three years that we have had the opportunity to work with the students of Finger Lakes Institute we have been extremely impressed with their enthusiastic support. This was an awesome experience. Plankton are at the bottom of the food chain and are very important in the food web, yet very few of us have actually seen plankton and can relate to these microorganisms that inhabit our world. Finger Lakes Institute (FLI) was a wonderful partner for a community/school rain garden installation project with fourth graders.
