Mission:
Founded in 1861, ASYMCAs collectively make up the premier nonprofit community service organization in America serving our military. ASYMCAs provide service annually to over 500,000 junior enlisted servicemembers and thier families in 80 program locations in 19 states both in the United States and overseas.
Our programs enhance their lives in spirit, mind, and body. In cooperation with the unit and area commands, the ASYMCA offers programs and services which strengthen families and encourage individuals to achieve their fullest potential.
The beginning of the YMCA service in the military is usually associated with the year 1861, when some 5,000 dedicated YMCA volunteers took to the battlefields of the Civil War alongside America's uniformed young men. It was the year that Abraham Lincoln commended YMCA leaders for the "benevolent undertaking for the benefit of the soldiers".
The tradition of "following the flag" continued in every war and conflict in which the United States has been involved.

The Armed Services YMCA is by far the best military non-profit serving the military and thier family in the United States. I have been a customer at various branches across the US and every experience has been outstanding. The staff is caring, they are there to help in any way they can. I love this ...

The best nonprofit in the world serving the military. They have no equal. They have very low overhead and 90 cents of every donated dollar goes to programs helping our military men and women and their families...
