Mission
Alliance for Justice is a national association of environmental, civil rights, mental health, women’s, children, and consumer advocacy organizations. Since its inception in 1979, AFJ has worked to advance the cause of justice for all Americans, strengthen the public interest community’s ability to influence public policy, and foster the next generation of advocates. AFJ has programs to advance equal access to justice for all Americans and to empower nonprofit organizations (and the foundations that fund them) to be active participants in the debates that shape public policy.
AFJ has offices in Washington, D.C. and in the East Bay of California. Through the West Coast Office, AFJ provides advocacy resources to an ever expanding list of progressive nonprofit organizations in California and the West Coast. AFJ’s attorneys and staff are valuable resources for gaining understanding of the laws and regulations that govern advocacy and election-related activities by nonprofit organizations. AFJ offers telephone technical assistance, in-house meetings, web workshops and on-site workshops.
