Abilities United champions people with developmental and other disabilities and provides the training, education, and support they need to lead the lives they choose.
Key Facts
Target demographics:
People of all ages who have a developmental or other disability. People of all ages without a disability but who can benefit from aquatic, early childhood development, adult independent skills and family support
Results to date:
Each year, we serve over 2,500 individuals and their families in our Children’s Development, Family Support, Adult, and Aquatic services programs.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 2,000
Indirect beneficiaries per year: 500
Obstacles:
Our facilities are 45 years old and need repair and maintenance. In particular, our indoor warm water pool needs updating or new construction. The California budget is always delayed and that delays our payments so we need funds to get us through the months until the state budget is passed.
