I have seen students make growth in the area of reading through the support of one-on-one or small group tutoring, designed to meet the student where they are.
provide more trained tutors and a permanent facility which would enable NGF to reach more students.

The children have grown so much, and it has helped me grow too. I've become better at public speaking and with child care. NGF helped me find a part of me-- the one that wants to teach!

I think when their improvements hit me the most isn't when their scores rise but when they learn to express themselves and become good people. I don't just teach how to do a math problem or how to read a sentence. I teach them how to write a story that expresses the things they keep deep inside and how to play songs on the guitar. I teach them right and wrong and how to succeed in life, not just academically, but personally through good deeds and an optimistic attitude.
If I had to make any changes, I would recruit more tutors and buy more books and supplies for the kids to use, and give us our own building to use.
I have been able to help NGF with facilities. I have also been able to get involved with some of the children and their families.

We've made such an impact on our Focus children! Not only have we improved their mechanics and approach to learning, but we've increased their enthusiasm and self-confidence. All the credit goes to our teachers and tutors. They make learning fun! We've had many parents ask us what we do to make children love coming to the SmarterMe tutoring sessions.
We have an ever growing need for more certified teachers, teen tutors, and other volunteers. Our small group setting is a key factor to our success, and as we get more children we need more volunteers.
This year I have started a writing group where 4th and 5th grade students in a small group setting can learn how to develop the craft of writing. Using a structured writing method, these students who started out being very reluctant writers now have a "go-to" method to help them organize their writing and more importantly gives them the confidence to write.
I would love to have more certified teachers volunteer their time to this program.

Receiving comments from the students' teachers that have witnessed improvement in academic areas at school.
To make this program perfect, it would only take more volunteers. I would also like to see funding to make scholorships available for our students and teens!
