As both a former attendee and a professional presenter, I found NUJLS to be a place called home by many in the LGBTQ community. I have never felt more embraced by a group of people than by the NUJLS crew.

Make a difference to the countless Jews who fear that being Gay/Lesbian/Bi/Trans/etc. precludes them from being a good person or from being an observant Jew.
Ways to make it better...
NUJLS had more money to subsidize travel for more folks - not too many students can afford the airfare to attend the national conference and many of them can't tell their parents or family where they are going in order to ask for financial help.

I attended NUJLS's annual conference last year and was amazed by the sense of community that was developed in one short weekend. I have since worked for NUJLS as a volunteer and am even more amazed at how much NUJLS does to support queer Jewish students beneath the surface.
