Great Nonprofits

I have been a von=lunteer for over 20 years from the time Jamestown had one half-time staff serving 15 local kids off the street. It has since grown into an organization serving hundreds of youth in the Mission District without losing it's grassroots and neighborhood based focus. I have seen elementary school kids grow into responsible high school teens and then into young adults with an education and a future because of Jamestown's work. There are very few organizations that combine the professional delivery of services with the connection to community.

As a volunteer for Jamestown I get to see first-hand how this organization positively impacts young children and their families. It is wonderful to see the children thrive through Jamestown's after-school and summer programs. This past Spring I was able to see the Jamestown children perform in a talent show. The children were confident, talented, organized and very entertaining. Many of the parent's came to watch their children perform and the auditorium was packed. The room was filled with arts and crafts projects that the children had created themselves and the music and dance was vibrant. It was a wonderful evening and just a small example of Jamestown's positive impact on children and their families. Jamestown is a model organization and I am thankful to be a part of it.

I have been involved with Jamestown for five years and I feel confident that every dollar I give or solicit is well spent in the community helping kids and their families meet their potential. Programs grow and change based on the community needs and staff evolve to meet the challenge. It is truly a unique community benefit!
