IOBY has gotten better with age and more community support. When i first started with them the site was just getting started. Now there are great projects from all over the 5 boros and as more and more small NPO's hear about it, more projects are listed. I love that many gardens and compost projects are on board now. Its great to see how many other people are doing things to make NYC greener and cleaner-all with help from ioby.org

I would like to see them get $1 million to spread out among the great projects-other than that they know what to do and are doing it and getting better as time goes on.

I would leave it as it works well as it. I only wish more people would post and donate because there are some many people that could do more with a bit of funding

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
at ioby.org they have a can-do attitude. This is a great thing for all groups-but especially groups that have access to limited funding.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Super friendly and very optimistic. A pleasure to deal with on all levels.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
greatly enhance the environment in the five borought by enabling hundreds of worthwhile grassroot projects
Ways to make it better...
It couldn't get any better!!
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
More people need to know about them
One thing I'd also say is that...
I hope more groups will get involved and get funded. The more hands will make the work of improving NYC that much easier

I volunteer with ioby and have been so impressed with the vision and professionalism of its founders. They are definitely not only changing the way citizens engage in environmental action in their communities, but also how nonprofits utilize technology to better achieve their missions and to reach their audience.

I had an idea but didn't know where to start. I asked Ioby - how can I make this happen? They reached out to their network and found the people I needed to talk to. Ioby not only helped get my project started but they also attended the cleanup I organized. The folks at Ioby are a great group of people making a huge difference one project at a time!

I've had a great experience interacting with IOBY both online and in person at their events. It's truly an idea (empowering folks to work towards positive environmental change within their local sphere of influence) who's time has come! I've personally donated and volunteered at a few local projects and found the experience personally rewarding and I'll certainly participate again.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
give them all the support they need as they are filling a niche that often gets overlooked by government, social programs and other larger, national environmental organizations.

their underlying sense of purpose and I truly believe that they are filling a void that exists.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
grow and be replicated in cities across the globe filling the void that currently exists where government or national environmental non-profits fear to tread.
Ways to make it better...
only they had more projects posted that required funding and participation.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
finding reliable sources of funding to support the staff and underlying mission behind the individual projects.
One thing I'd also say is that...
I think this is the future of environmental action that makes a difference in our communities.

I really like IOBY because I felt overwhelmed by the task of finding a green cause to support; I didn't have a lot of money to give, but I wanted to give a series of smaller donations to a cause that would benefit the neighborhood I love. I knew I wanted to give at the grassroots level, but I didn't know where to start looking. A friend pointed me to IOBY and their easy to use website. I liked seeing photos of the different projects and knowing exactly where my $25 would go. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to help keep their neighborhood and all of New York clean.

Really impressive. I'm not always most comfortable on the web, but when I met with Erin and Cassie, two of the IOBY staff, I think I understood the power of microfunding for the first time. Then I gave to my first political campaign in 2009!
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Make New York a place where every neighborhood had visible and adequately-funded environmental organizations--the first step toward making New York a clean place to live.

I'm so glad to see micro philanthropy coming to U.S. (so much is focused in other countries). What a great concept IOBY is! I'm really excited to see it replicated in other cities/states.
