The HRS is a life saver! Everything and anything you need to know about how to care for and love your bunny the right way. Bunny owners and non-owners alike should read through their website to more fully understand this very misunderstood creature. The society is always available to answer questions, and offer advice and support, let alone the countless rescues they do every year. Thousands (and probably hundreds of thousands) of house buns the world over are very appreciative of these people. We couldn't do it without you! Please donate to the HRS!

Ways to make it better!
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... The still misunderstood place of rabbits in the home.
I was a Volunteer & I foster rabbits and assist with some basic administrative tasks.

I was a community municipal shelter volunteer and now I am an HRS fosterer. I love this organization. The House Rabbit Society has rescued hundreds of thousands of rabbits facing euthanization at local animal shelters over the past 20 years. They rescue based upon need and do not discriminate by selecting only the most adoptable animals as many organizations have been forced to do.
This practice is congruent of their underlying value system which actively supports the belief that others are worthy of value and respect perhaps especially the most vulnerable among us.
In my care are rabbits who languished pathetically at the local shelter waiting to be humanely euthainized. The rabbits are provided with the best of care and are matched with adopters who are provided with educational support and the opportunity to become part of a community dedicated to assist them in caring for their newly adopted rabbit(s).

- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... the opportunity to become involved in ways of my chosing and in ways that enable me to learn, evolve and continue to enjoy my relationship with the House Rabbit Society.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... dedicated.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... provide much needed maintenance work on their rabbit shelter. Provide more support to themselves and their chapters in order to do more outreach, more education and save more lives.
Ways to make it better!
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... Funding.

I am an educator for this organization, which is one of the most well-coordinated, informative and effective groups with which I've ever been familiar. Obviously, the four rabbits with whom we share our home would not have the terrific lives they now have without the HRS. The HRS annually saves hundreds of rabbits from being euthanized and mistreated, and has created incredible awareness of the intelligence of rabbits as companion animals. I am truly honored and blessed to be a part of the HRS mission.

- I've seen the results of this organization in... increasing public awareness of the needs of rabbits.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... knowing that I have helped educate people about the proper care of rabbits and that, because I have learned so much through the HRS, the rabbits in our home have led happy, healthy lives.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... help save even more rabbits and develop a major campaign.

- My experience would have been better if... I had known about the HRS sooner.
- If I ran this organization, I would... need the support of fellow members and staff!
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... financial needs to care for rabbits, continue rescue efforts and educate the public about our mission.
- One thing I'd also say is that... this organization has come a long way in 20 short years.
I was a Volunteer & Currently I'm a greens runner, and volunteer for odd jobs. I also was able to help with the Hayward Rabbit Rescue several years ago, where rabbits were saved from a horrible abuse situation.

HRS has been a blessing to rabbits for 20 years. HRS saves so many rabbits from euthanasia at local shelters, and finds them wonderful homes. I am so happy to have adopted several rabbits through the House Rabbit Society. I cannot imagine a life without rabbits, and through educating the public I know HRS will help others to have the same joy of having a rabbit in their life.
HRS is also vital in helping to save abused rabbits and help bring their abusers to justice, and to rehabilitate rabbits so that they can find new homes where they will be loved and appreciated.

- I've seen the results of this organization in... my own pet bunnies, and in the way that shelters and vets have been educated about the care and treatment of rabbits over the years. I have also seen the work they do to get the word out to the press regarding abuse cases and seeing that people are not allowed to get away with abusing rabbits.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... the rabbits themselves. They are such lovely creatures and the people that are other volunteers are very nice too. I have made friends of both the human and rabbit variety. I was also very moved to be able to have been a part of the Hayward Rabbit Rescue and volunteer to help that group of abused rabbits to learn to be happy and trust people again. I also followed the case through the courts and showed up at all the hearings on that case and another one. My photo on my profile is with one of the Hayward Rescued Rabbit's named Zorro. Of all the sweet rabbits, he was somehow special to me. Sadly he passed on and did not make it out to the great Bunny Barn at Harvest Home with the rest of his clan.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... super dedicated, hardworking, rabbit loving people. Many of the volunteer open their homes and spend a lot of money helping to foster rabbits, they are a very special group of people.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... Rescue, spay/neuter, house or rehome most every rabbit waiting to be euthanized in a shelter, at least I'd hope that would be enough money to save all the rabbits in need for now. Naturally spending a part of the money on educating the public about spaying/neutering their rabbits would help the whole problem of too many rabbits being dumped at shelters or let loose in the wild.
Ways to make it better!
- My experience would have been better if... The public were more aware of the House Rabbit Society and came to adopt more rabbits. It's sad seeing some of the same bunnies there for a long time not being adopted. More funds would help with education, mobile adoptions and getting the word out about what wonderful companions rabbits can be for the right people, and about the need to spay/neuter their rabbit to reduce populations of rabbits and to prevent cancer of the reproductive organs.
- If I ran this organization, I would... ask that the people running it now keep up the great jobs they are doing and help me, because I wouldn't have a clue.
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... Money for medical care, food, hay,spay/neutering, space to house rabbits that need to be taken in from shelters awaiting euthanasia, finding volunteers and fosters.
- One thing I'd also say is that... HRS has done wonderful work over the past 20 years and I hope they will continue on to help as many rabbits as possible. I am so glad that this organization was started and that more chapters are starting across the country and internationally.
