I enjoyed watching the campers' understandings of alternative energy grow as the week progressed. The camp taught the children more about our impact on the environment.

- My experience would have been better if... we had more resources to utilize throughout the week.

Positive: I liked what they taught. I liked doing the project.
Negative: There was too much sun. The river smells bad. It was too hot.

- My experience would have been better if... it wasn't so hot and sunny and smelly.

It was fun and had a lot of building involved. There were fun activities and games. A lot of the stuff we did related to alternative energy and fuel. I learned a little-not lots, but a little.
The Great!
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... building a vehicle using an energy source other than fossil fuel. I used solar panels.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... fun, good at their job but in a fun way, and generally kept the kids under control.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... build a nice camp in a nice building so we're not just outside all the time. It could provide food that is good for the environment and has less packaging. It could buy materials that are more environmentally friendly.
Ways to make it better!
- My experience would have been better if... the camp had shorter hours--I don't like long long hours. Also, if it were in a climate controlled building. It was hot outside
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... how the counselors have to deal with campers they haven't met before. That must have been hard.
It was fun and interesting. Lots of free time. It is fun to make different cars and vehicles that use alternative energy.

Great camp. Children learned a lot of valuable info. Did fun projects. This was the first time EV had the camp for 6-8th grade kids, but it seemed very well-designed and planned.

I was a Volunteer & I volunteered in classrooms, on the board of trustees and for many of the fundraising events.

I served as a classroom docent for this fabulous nonprofit for almost ten years before returning to full time paid work. Teaching young children about the water cycle, tectonic plates or bird bills was very rewarding and helped to maintain my faith in the Socratic style of teaching. I then served on the board of trustees and discovered that the EV was also incredibly well-run as well as having passionate volunteers. Great place to put your time and your money.

- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... working with young children, helping them discover the m.arvels of nature
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... dedicated, smart, organized, serious about their love of children and nature
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... replicate its model all over the country. There is something very powerful about using volunteers as opposed to paid staff in this work. Children and their families are impressed that people care enough to volunteer their time to teach others about nature.
Ways to make it better!
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... finding enough classroom volunteers when so many people are working more than one job and keeping full time jobs later in life than they were in past years.
