I cannot say enough good things about ArtWorks Foundation! They have helped so many of my patients and their families by providing opportunities for creative expression. Engaging in the arts is not only enjoyable, it is an invaluable tool in helping children and families to cope with distress throughout serious illness and hospital experiences. Several patients who used to dread coming to the hospital for transfusions and other procedures now look forward to visits because they know they'll get to create art using materials from our beautiful Surprise!Supplies art cart! Other patients, who were formerly withdrawn, are already talking about what they want to do for next year's Express Yourself show! I am so thankful to ArtWorks Foundation for all the amazing work that they do!!!

What is unique about this organization?
They really understand the powerful impact of the arts for children and families coping with serious illness. They understand that engaging in creative activities is not simply recreational, but has immense therapeutic potential. By providing opportunities for creativity, ArtWorks Foundation is helping to empower children and giving them tools to overcome distressing experiences.

I've seen the Artworks team in action and believe the work they do is so impactdul and brings such joy and pride to the children and hospitals they serve. They are dedicated, creative, and committed to providing a needed outlet for these kids to take their mind off of the often terrible circumstances they face. Proud to be a supporter!!

I Thought I might share an email that I sent to Daniela Mendelsohn, the Executive Director of Artworks, a few years back. Daniela-
Volunteering for Artworks is an honor and a priviledge.
I couldn't imagine a more worthwhile and fulfilling way to spend the day.
You did an unbelievable job organizing and planning the event down to the
the last detail, as always.
What you have created is truely inspirational and I look forward to
volunteering from the moment one show ends until the time the next begins.
I only hope you know that the volunteering need not be limited to the
actual events.
I, for one, am more than happy to pitch in with the grunt work, so please
let me know whenever you can use a hand.

The Artworks Express Yourself Exhibition and Performance is among the year's highlights for the children in my program. We submit art work and several children perform. The event is organized, funfilled and allows for the special circumstances that are certain to arise with this population. The outreach and support given to the families is unparalled!

The love that the staff of Artworks has for children suffering with life threatening illnesses is amazing. They are committed to helping these kids cope with the struggles, pain and disappointments of their illnesses. Through Express Yourself, providing art supplies with Surprise Supplies and Art Carts, and Intensive Cair classes, kids can forget about their struggles if only for a day.

As a music therapist at one of the children's hospitals in the NYC area, I have had the pleasure of being involved with Artworks: The Naomi Cohain Foundation's annual "Express Yourself NY" event for the past 3 years. This event offers children with acute or chronic illnesses the opportunity to connect with their inner creativity as a means of self-expression and coping with their medical issues. I have also been able to take advantage of Artwork's "Creative Artists In Residence" program that brings various creative arts experiences to children in the hospital environment. The staff at Artworks has been amazing in their efforts to provide these and many other services to the children and families with whom I work.

As a Child Life Specialist, this organization has helped put smiles on children's faces as well as reaching those who could otherwise not get out of bed to play. They provided us with a colorful Art Cart, filled with endless craft supplies that we can wheel bedside, or keep in the hospital waiting room. The patients as well as staff truly appreciate this generous gift!

While been at the Hospital with my son (in one of several admissions) I saw a sign at the Child Life Play Room: "Art Works" Express Yourself" and have my kids: Son and daughter working on expressing themselfs while being in and out of the Hospital. I think is wonderful the chance kids have to do art and be part of the exposure of their art. The exposition and all involved is wonderful and besides the good time and enfoyment more important the enrichment of the kids soul. Love it and will keep up participating.

Volunteering for this program has been a wonderful gift. The three (there are only three!) ladies that run the organization are great to work with, and what they've accomplished would be impressive for an organization five times their size.

I've helped with their yearly fundraising events and have attended several ArtWorks Express Yourself concerts and exhibitions. The programs truly makes a tangible and measurable difference to every child and family that it reaches. Coming from an art background and having a parent who is an art therapist, ArtWorks resonated with me on a personal and professional level, but it has also become clear to me that others feel the same way when they are exposed to what ArtWorks does. Ive also met with professionals in the medical field who know how much the art supplies mean to the children who use them. That is a great testament to what ArtWorks does.
