Funds Available for Youth-Serving Programs in Pittsburgh Area

This summer, 29 area youths have been participating in a youth philanthropy program that will culminate with them awarding a total of $200,000 in grants (average grant expected to range from $5,000 - $12,000).

There are a total of eight exciting opportunities for programs serving youth, including:
•Providing girls with programs that promote a positive body image and improve self-worth;
•Promoting civic engagement through digital media;
•Offering experiential arts education;
•Furnishing support for mentoring;
•Preventing youth violence;
•Supporting research to help organizations ensure that their programs attract and engage older youth.

Formal requests for proposals will be available July 11 at http://www.heinz.org. Organizations interested in seeking funds should plan to attend the Youth Philanthropy Information Fair to be held Wednesday, July 16 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Sarah Heinz House on the North Side.  Directions may be found at: http://www.sarahheinzhouse.org/.
