Trash Mash-Up (TMU), a community art project, will be exhibiting their original “Maskostumes” at San Francisco Environment’s EcoCenter the months of December through February. Come see the remarkable work done by local youth from the Western Addition. On January 13th, 2008 from 10 am - 3pm, Trash Mash-Up will be a part of Department of Children, Youth and Their Families Family Appreciation Day. Drop by the San Francisco Environment EcoCenter to support this community effort and find a new way with old objects for yourself. The San Francisco EcoCenter is located at 11 Grove Street.
Trash Mash-Up is committed to realizing the potential value in our everyday objects by transforming them into innovative “Maskostumes”. “Maskostumes” are original pageant masks and costumes inspired by traditions from around the world constructed from materials collected before they enter the waste stream. Through workshops and public pageants, TMU raises awareness about cultural traditions and environmental issues. This project reduces waste and inspires people to see each other and our environment in a new way. Using public art projects, TMU connects our creative traditions to our collective future.
