Respond to Need
You are responding to need Volunteers!:
Every year, Reading Partners increases the reading level of students in grades K-5 with a structured curriculum delivered by community volunteers. Our volunteers are essential to our mission and success: In 2008, we had over 500 volunteers who spent over 950 hours in our Reading Centers working 1:1 with each child. In 2009, our goal is to serve 800 students in 15 different schools in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles.
Becoming a Reading Partners volunteer is simple:
1. Complete the online Initial Volunteer Inquiry Form on our website. Within 48 hours, you will receive a response to your inquiry.
2. Attend a New Tutor Orientation (NTO) at one of our Reading Centers. At this mandatory training session (1.5 hrs), your will learn the specifics about tutoring at Reading Partners including: how the program is organized, volunteer commitment, our curriculum, and about additional training available to be an effective tutor.
3. Clear a background check. All volunteers are required to clear a background check. For your convenience, fingerprinting will be offered at all NTO sessions.
